Building capacities of Ward Councillors in Rishikesh and Haridwar for a cleaner Ganga
In order to align one of the most important stakeholders with the aim of our Project, we conducted workshops for Ward Councillors to introduce our project in Rishikesh and Haridwar and highlight the importance of reducing plastic waste in Ganga.
This workshop was an opportunity for our team to interact with the ward councilors and give them an overview of the baseline assessment that we conducted in the cities of Rishikesh and Haridwar.
Our teams in both cities discussed the scope of the project and the plan for implementing a system that would ensure waste segregation at the household level. Our findings from our assessment initiated discussions around the challenges in the waste management system and the possible solutions to the same.
This was a collaborative workshop where our team sought suggestions from the ward councilors and it helped us gauge their important role in reducing plastic waste and improving the system.
Through these workshops, we are able to gain the support and trust of these stakeholders that play an important role in the implementation of the Project. The Nagar Nigam’s support in both the cities for participation in our waste worker training, collaborating with our staff during waste collection, and participating in awareness activities are crucial for our efforts to reduce plastic waste in Ganga.
