What better way of discussing menstrual hygiene and its disposal than providing women a platform for learning and sharing their concerns on Women’s Day? On the occasion of Women’s Day 2021, Team Aviral conducted an awareness session on Menstrual Hygiene and the importance of Waste Segregation with 23 women participants.
Eight municipal waste workers a.k.a Safai Mitr took part in the first capacity-building training session organized by Team Aviral in Haridwar. The training highlighted the necessity of source waste-segregation and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for safeguarding worker safety, while incorporating insights of the Safai Mitr about infrastructural improvements necessary for achieving the goal of a clean Ganga.
In the days leading up to Holi, Project Aviral conducted three rounds of door-to-door campaigning for the residents of New Haridwar Area, educating them on the different types of waste streams (Dry, Wet, Domestic Hazardous) and the practice of source segregation as, enabling the diversion of 60 kgs of dry waste (including plastic waste) away from the Ganga.
