Bringing together the Rishikesh Market Association for efficient waste management during ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’
On the occasion of the Swachh Bharat Mission’s “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, our team conducted training for the Market Association focusing on waste management for their commercial establishments in Rishikesh.
The Assistant Municipal Commissioner Mr. Elam Das graced the workshop with his presence and addressed the participants on how commercial establishments can be responsible for waste management and take their own initiatives to reduce plastic waste in Ganga.
We discussed challenges and potential suggestions on managing waste generated by commercial establishments. Along with the discussion, participants were introduced to sustainable alternatives to single-use products with visual do’s and don’ts on waste management.
We intend to have more of such constructive discussions with commercial establishments and the Nagar Nigam. We have been conducting surveys for commercial establishments as well to better understand the on-ground reality of shopkeepers when it comes to dealing with their waste.
