World Environment Day School Competition 2021

Students from Haridwar and Rishikesh share their creative skills to advocate for a clean Ganga by participating in the Meri Ganga, Meri Zimmedari Contest.

“There is no other way but to prepare our current and next generation to make efforts on restoring our planet.”

We organized a contest across schools in Haridwar and Rishikesh on 5th June to celebrate world environment day. The theme for this contest was ‘keeping the Ganga clean’ and this contest was an opportunity for the students to express their ideas and views through paintings, poems on river Ganga and innovative creations through waste materials at home in their interesting DIY videos.

71 students participated in the contest and sent their wonderful entries to us! Through their paintings and poems, the young champions expressed their dream for a cleaner Ganga and their understanding of the pollution caused in River Ganga. In their DIY videos, they made plastic mats, flower pots from used plastic cans and strips. They showcased their creative abilities to send out an important message for reusing waste materials and at home and contribute towards a cleaner Ganga and restoring their beloved river to its original, pure state.
